This morning I was reading Ps 31
in vs 11 David laments because of his situation
- he has become despicable
- and untrustworthy
- and a social pariah
to friends and neighbours...

I never thought about that.
David on the Run from the King
and most or much of the country
sided with the King.
to them,David was a renegade
a defector
a problem.....
even.... the enemy...

All because God had promised him the kingdom
and the timing
and the present king
made that a very 'awkward' promise....

I wonder if David ever wished he could be just a 'normal Joe'
and not have this 'wonderful' promise from God....

It seems that David instead of being angry with God
or even Saul
just chose to push in
to cling tighter to God
and trust Him for protection
and justice.

at the end of the same Psalm he says;
23 "Love the LORD, all his saints!
The LORD preserves the faithful,
but the proud he pays back in full.
24 Be strong and take heart,
all you who hope in the LORD."

Lord,
I am reminded that
sometimes the blessings of Your Promises
comes with misunderstanding
jealousy
and even persecution

and Yet
I so desire to hear from You
Your promises for me.

I choose to rest in how that
walks out
in my life
and the lives of those around me.

Thank You
Jesus.
