Good day, Black Creek Church Family,

I trust you are enjoying this week's warmer weather.
I enjoy listening to stories from people who travel to Europe and other faraway places.
Sometimes their stories tell of the contrast between the poverty of people and lavish, ornamented, expansive buildings constructed in the 'name of God'.
Cathedrals and other church buildings with high vaulted ceilings, stained glass, and amazing mosaics.
Their 'takeaway' is often, "it just seems so wrong for poor people to give towards such extravagant monuments 'in the name of God'."
But
This week I heard a different narrative. A different perspective.
King David.
He made an opportunity for anyone to contribute to the temple -
and they came gladly and gave.
They gave because they had an amazing opportunity to be involved in something far bigger than anyone of them could have possibly done on their own.
They got to contribute to a building where their Creator chose to dwell!
They gave what they could. Probably sacrificially. Doing without other things so that they could be a part of this grand way of showing love and reverence to God, who loves them, walks with them, and, after the time of Christ, died for them.

Thanks
for everyone who took part in last week's potluck. It was great fun and good food!

Next Saturday, October 17th is Barb McGinn's memorial here at the church at 1:30. Tea time to follow.

Pray for families that get together this Thanksgiving. Pray for a shift for those who have difficulty bridging the relationship gap.
Years ago, a man in our men's group commented that if we had lived in the time of Moses, how sad it would have been to have missed the chance to contribute to the Tabernacle in the desert.
I still think about that comment.... To be able to honour my Lord with a gift of love.. what a privilege.
Exodus 36:2 And Moses called Bezalel and Oholiab and every craftsman in whose mind the LORD had put skill,
everyone whose heart stirred him up to come to do the work.
3 And they received from Moses all the contribution that the people of Israel had brought for doing the work on the sanctuary.
They still kept bringing him freewill offerings every morning,
4 so that all the craftsmen who were doing every sort of task on the sanctuary came,
each from the task that he was doing, 5 and said to Moses,
The people bring much more than enough for doing the work that the LORD has commanded us to do.
6 So Moses gave command, and word was proclaimed throughout the camp,
Let no man or woman do anything more for the contribution for the sanctuary.
So the people were restrained from bringing,
Blessings as you serve and give back some of the fruit of your labour...
To the King of Kings and Lord of Lords
