This morning I was sifting through thoughts of
affirmation and praise.

As a young person I seem to remember
praise came sparingly.
'Spare the rod and spoil the child' seemed to be changed to;
'praise the child and that will spoil them'

It's quiet possible that was not the case
But... That's what landed for me...

So I was interested in Solomon's thoughts
in Proverbs 27 about praise....

2 Let another praise you, and not your own mouth;
someone else, and not your own lips.

21 The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold,
but man is tested by the praise he receives.

the effect of Praise on a person.....
Mom and Dad felt too much
and the child would get spoiled.... inflated and unreal self image
- Quite possible....

Too little and the child has poor self image....
Hmm....

Which goes back to thought in vs 2....

Confidence with modesty
are virtues :)
Confidence with boasting
not so much... :(

So how to I walk that out well personally?
How do I teach and lead in that area
to those I have authority / responsibility for?
Hmm... too much...

too little...

Just right...?

Lord, You know each heart
You walk with me
each moment of the day....
and I choose to listen in those moments
to You
- How to build up
- How to establish true and right understanding
of self
and others...
By Your leading...
By Your grace
By Your Love

Yes.

Thank You
Holy Spirit.
