Just started reading 1 Samuel....
Hannah and Peninnah
Both married to Elkanah
Peninnah had children
Hannah had none
and Peninnah provoked and teased and irritated her....

and Elkanah 'compensated' by loving Hannah more.....
ref 1 Sam 1:1-20

Hmm...
One woman had love and wanted children
One woman had children..... and wanted love?
The text doesn't say that last part...

.... but I find it interesting how Peninnah is the
miserable
angry
'selfish' person
in a place where
getting love looked like a 'competitive sport'....
Having children and belittling her 'advesary'
was Peninnah's way of
fighting for her fair share
of love

And God answered Hannah's prayer
and she got children
and Peninnah got......?

Hmm....

Lord,
open my eyes
to the motivation of my heart
Help me to see
what is really making me 'tick'

Today...
I choose to listen
and
grow up
into Who You have called me to
Be.

Yes.

Thank You Jesus
for showing me
the way.
