No Work.
No Eat...

Paul's word to some folks in Thessalonia
Get off the couch...
Get a job.

In 1 Thes 4:11,12 he tells them to
- lead a quiet life
- mind your own business
- work
and that will win respect
and not burden others.

See more in 2 Thes 3:6-15

Hmm....
I was thinking how somehow career counseling in my life
went off that track....

- follow your dreams
- do what you love
- find your passions
- shoot for the stars

Soooo 'obviously' doing a job that I don't have 'passion' for is...
Wrong?
If it's boring... quit?
If it doesn't support my dream career path.... don't take it?
- minimum wage job is not a real job...?

Hmmm....

Nowhere do I hear in scripture
talk about dreaming a job
and then doing it.....

(Yes God did give people prophetic dreams
and brought them to pass
- sometimes generations after they died!
- Abraham, Jacob, Joseph....)

Most everywhere in Scripture
People found themselves in difficult circumstances
- Jobs
and by relying and trusting in God
they produced fruit for the Kingdom...
and found Character was built into their lives.

4 years ago I took a job
I was not particularly 'passionate' about.
I have learned it
I am pretty good at it now.
It has put food on the table
and connected me with some people
that I believe God is 'passionate' about.

and....
I think God is showing me - it is time to 'move on'...

but I am not sure what He has for me next.
Will I be 'shooting for the stars'?
or maybe taking another 'boring' job....?

Hmm...
Nothing Wrong with 'shooting for the stars'
or having a Job that evokes Passion....

BUT I choose to make it second
to What God has for me
Which is sometimes
Putting Food on the table
And being a quiet testemony of God's faithfulness
to those in my community.

I Do know.
God is in the business
of working Life through me
to those around me
and
I am passionate about 'working' for Him
I Do love my 'job'
No matter what the 'Context'

Lord,
Thank You for reminding me what the criteria is for 'work'
Thank You for reminding me that
You
and what You are up to
is what I am actually passionate about.

Thank You for jobs that pay the bills
and put food on the table.
and Thank You too
for Passion and Dreams.
Thank You Lord Jesus.
For guiding my steps
and opening my eyes to
Wonder
from Your point of view.

Yeah.    :)
