I have been reading the interesting up and down journey
of Israel without a leader....

Book of Judges....
- Fall away from God
- Disciplined by oppressive occupation of a neighbouring kingdom
- Cry out to God for help
- A deliverer arises, saves, and eventually dies
Cycle repeats....

and in the middle of it all is a man called
Jotham
whose Dad was Gideon
and
after Dad died
his brother Abimelech
conned the leaders of the area to become their 'king'
killed the rest of the family
and threatened Jotham's life....

and Jotham calls on God to set things right.

end of story as far as he is concerned.
The last thing we hear is that he is hiding from Abimelech...

But God
didn't let it slide...
He set things right.
The 'bad brother' and the leaders of the area
eliminated each other.
Read about it in Judges 9

The thing that struck me was how Jotham's only option
was to let God bring justice.

to wait on God....

He couldn't pursue Abimelech (too dangerous)
He couldn't get a petition happening... (everyone else scared?)
He couldn't appeal to the 'law' (corrupt)

All he could do is declare God's Justice
and Hide
and wait
until it happened
or not....

We don't even know if he lived to see it....

But God was just then.
and He Still is...
Today.

I can count on Him.

even if 'stuff' doesn't happen when I want it to...
maybe not even in my lifetime....
I can count on Him.

Lord,
Thank You for reminding me
that Your Justice
in Your Time
in Your Way.
and I don't need to
'help' You....

Yes,.
You are
enough.

Today...
always.

Yeah.
