I am almost finished reading Numbers.....
...Moses' record of a nation
wandering in the desert....
waiting for a whole generation to die
so that the 'kids' could get on with the 'program'
of receiving what God had promised.

Asaph who wrote many of the Psalms
writes about this paradox....
Psalm 81:11 “But my people did not listen to my voice;
Israel would not submit to me.
12 So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts,
to follow their own counsels.
13 Oh, that my people would listen to me,
that Israel would walk in my ways!
14 I would soon subdue their enemies
and turn my hand against their foes.
15 Those who hate the LORD would cringe toward him,
and their fate would last forever.
16 But he would feed you with the finest of the wheat,
and with honey from the rock I would satisfy you.”

A nation of vulnerable people
who want to be cared for....
but the criteria
- trusting God
- obeying God
is somehow beyond them...
- not from lack of ability
- not from lack of incentive
but deep down
a 'thing' that fights to be in control
- Self
- Independence
- I know what is best and I will control my own life......

almost like Arm-Wrestling God for control....

Hmm....    That's going to end well... :P
because God' lets me 'win'.....

He gives me
my will....

When I Baptized a friend this last Sunday
it reminded me of that paradox.
- The very act of baptism is one of submission...
My friend released the right to 'run' his own life
and became a 'bondslave'
because he knows that God is a better 'boss'
than he is....
He submitted to the Father....

Lord,
I choose again
today
to release my will
to Yours.

You are
Good
You are powerful
and You love me.

I trust
the outcomes of the day
to You.

Yes.

Thank You....
...in advance.
:)
