No other nation..... and now... me.

This morning I was 'listening' to Moses 
as he 'trained' the next generation 
the generation that did not die in the wilderness 
but were going to step into the promised land 
very soon....      

Moses asked them, 
"have you ever heard of a nation 
that their God     
- chose them    
- spoke to them    
- tested/trained them   
- set laws for them    
- wrote those laws on tablets for them   
- did miracles for them?"    
ref Duet 4:5-14, 32-40     

No other nation
No other people

and
When they entered into the promised land
they found that everyone had been living in fear
of them for 40 years because of this God
that lived with them.... ref Joshua 2:8-11

and I think of the world religions of my time
all reaching out to God
except
for this one religion
where God reached out
to a nation
and then
to any who would respond.

"For God so loved the world
that he GAVE his one and only Son
that whoever believes in Him
shall not perish
but have eternal life" Jn 3:16

Lord Jesus,
It seems so obvious...
such stark contrast...
the difference between what You have done
and the efforts of men
to connect to their gods....

Thank You for the reminder
of how Different Your plans are
to Choose men and women
boys and girls
You came to us
You initiated.
