Good morning, Black Creek Church Family, 
This week, Donna and I went to church! 
I suspect this is not a surprise to you. 
But I observed a few things that I sometimes miss in our more familiar surroundings at home.
The music and songs were different... 
- But Jesus was lifted up. 
A testimony was given
- And we were encouraged to persevere. 
The pastor preached on one verse for an hour 
- and I remember it 
My takeaway....
There were probably 30 people there...  
sparse...and yet,
we were encouraged: 
By the Word of God 
By the testimony of a believer 
By the declaration of His praise 
And while these things might happen when believers 'just get together' for fellowship in a home or 'coffee'..  They often don't.  Unless someone 'makes it happen'. 
The structure and intentionality that are 'normal' for Sunday morning bring; the Word, Testimony, and Worship together.
Self reflection, alone time with God, personal study in the Word...   All are really important
But...
This last Sunday I was reminded of the encouragement of meeting with others. To strengthen me to trust God more, keep on keepin on, and not be distracted by the world's problems.
Because Sunday morning service one of my normal routines, it was interesting to experience it in a different context. It reminded me how important it is to help me stay on the road to the 'celestial city' (in the words of Pilgrim's Progress).
 This Friday
Band of Brothers resumes at 6:30pm at the church.

 In 2 Sundays
 We are planning a church potluck on Sunday, October 4th after the service.
Bring a main course , or salad , or dessert  (2 of the 3 would be helpful)  The church will supply beverages .
 Hebrews 10:23  Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.

24  And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works,
25  not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

Invite a friend who hasn't been to church in a while.
Enjoy the fellowship of the Saints with fresh appreciation.
Ask the Lord how to encourage someone this week with a scripture or word.
