This morning I was listening
to the journey
of the wise men...
So often at Christmas
this familiar story
loses it's 'shine'
The familiarity
the repetitiveness of hearing it
yet....
If I were on that journey...
What thoughts would be running through my head?
What prompted them to
leave home and country
travel far to another land
risk imprisonment
go at great cost
both financially
and reputation -
after all.... what if there was no king...?
what if they were wrong....
Oh I know they saw a star and followed it...
but what was it that they wanted?
what caused them to seek
what the star pointed to....
Matt 2:9  After listening to the king,
they went on their way.
And behold,
the star that they had seen
when it rose went before them
until it came to rest over the place where the child was.
10  When they saw the star,
they rejoiced exceedingly
with great joy.
11  And going into the house
they saw the child with Mary his mother,
and they fell down and worshiped him.
Then, opening their treasures,
they offered him gifts,
gold and frankincense and myrrh.  ESV
they rejoiced exceedingly
with great joy.
What was that all about...?
Did they do a dance?
Did they shout and yell and laugh and hug each other?
They must have talked about it with Mary and Joseph
so that it was recorded for us...
This King
This Person of great importance
When they found this little child
they
fell down
and worshiped Him...
Oh God
You stir up divine curiosity
that leads men to cross deserts
and brave dangers and the unknown
to
seek You
to
Find You.
Thank You for re awakening
that in me too.
That I too would
seek to find You
today.
That I might rejoice exceedingly
when I see the marker of Your presence
That You are near.
and fall down and worship
You.
Lord
and
King....
Yeah.
