I always find it interesting
when I read a passage in the long past Old Covenant
and then I read a portion that references that
in the New.

This morning Read Eph 4:7-10

and then read Deuteronomy 30:
11 “For this commandment that I command you today
is not too hard for you,
neither is it far off.
12 It is not in heaven,
that you should say,
‘Who will ascend to heaven for us and bring it to us,
that we may hear it and do it?’
13 Neither is it beyond the sea,
that you should say,
‘Who will go over the sea for us and bring it to us,
that we may hear it and do it?’
14 But the word is very near you.
It is in your mouth
and in your heart,
so that you can do it.

The people heard the word read.....
....but only once a year.

They were to speak the words in the
morning and evening
to remember them.....

Not too hard....
but...

they became
- an Exercise.
- rules
- another 'check mark' in a list of things to DO

... something different than a relationship with God
they became;
'How can I do the minimum to 'please' God
and
still do my own thing ....'

and Paul says my 'old self' will always try to do that.
Even if it is 'not to difficult'
the old nature will choose independence from God Eph 4:22-24

and Jesus came to change that.....
to actually 'inject' Holiness back into my veins
that I might have my 'intentions' changed
to change my DO
to
BE

from
Me
and
Mine...
to God
and His way

O Holy Spirit
You shift my allegiance from self
to God's ways
You reform me...
A new creation
that I might actually
WANT to be....
what is
Right.
and
Good...

A gift from You.
Life.
instead of
death.

Thank You.

Yes.
