Good day, Black Creek Church Family,

Family Connections

This week I had a pleasant surprise.

A man who was asked to build a small office space in a hangar where I work let me know his 'secret' - he is part of my family!

Our family.  He is a child of God.

I met him almost a year ago.  He has connections to the folks who own the hangar.

I had a few quick conversations with him over the year. Every time we talked, he seemed kind, honourable, well-versed in his trade.... and something else......

Something that made me want to get to know him, work alongside him, watch how he did things, ask him questions....

Hmmmm.... I wanted to learn from an accomplished craftsman, but how he carried himself was so.... pleasant.

Quietly confident. Humble yet sure of himself. Not bumped by the frenzy around him. Thoughtful solutions.  Practical.

When I mentioned my connection to a community of faith, he surprised me.

He started talking about his morning routine of scripture reading to get ready for the day.  We began to ask each other questions.

Some time ago he did an online evangelism course by Ray Comfort. which he described as 'Boot Camp for Christians'

We enjoyed talking so much that I was pretty late getting home that day....

Photo Directory update .  Come on down after church to update your address, phone, picture etc.

This week, we are including the list of persons willing to continue to lead in 2026.

As you will see, there are a few blank spots.

Please prayerfully consider the criteria (if it is an elder) and the gifting (if it is a ministry leader) and who might fit one of these areas of ministry.

Submit the names to the office or to one of the pastors by Feb 8th.  The leadership team will take it from there.

This week I have been praying for our world (as I am sure many are).  My prayer is that we engage our earthly home with a heavenly perspective.

If you are not sure what that means, it might be a good conversation to have sometime!

Donna and I spend a few minutes at the end of every day reviewing what we are thankful for.

As I thought of my time 'discovering' a fellow brother in the Lord, it filled me with wonder at God's ways (putting him in unbelievers' lives that I know)

and the warmth of finding someone whose values are eternal.

Paul in 2 Corinthians speaks of the 'fragrance' of our lives.

Such a good reminder of what I found so enticing and pleasant about this brother in the Lord.

2:14  But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession,

and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere.

15  For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved

and among those who are perishing,
16  to one a fragrance from death to death,

to the other a fragrance from life to life.

Who is sufficient for these things?

Blessings as you bring the enticing fragrance of our Lord

into your circles of influence.
