Good day, Black Creek Community Church,

This week Donna and I had a meal with a new friend.
They recently arrived in Canada.

They left behind much.
They came for the opportunity to live without fear.
Fear of loss of life, loss of property, loss of security for loved ones.

I reflect on what my fears are, how they affect me,
and how big they are in relation to my friend's.

Today someone reminded me of Matthew 11 When Jesus told his followers:
28  Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden,

and I will give you rest.
29  Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me,

for I am gentle and lowly in heart,

and you will find rest for your souls.
30  For my yoke is easy,

and my burden is light.”

Come and enjoy cake after the service.

So how do I live in circumstances where bad things can happen?

How did Jesus handle;

- His community - tried to throw him off a cliff

- His family - tried to take him home

- A disciple - betrayed him

- A disciple - denied him

- A Roman ruler - Pilate - thought he had the power to crucify Jesus

Jesus released His will to the Father

So that no matter what happened

He was in the Father's hands.

John 16:33 Jesus said, "I have said these things to you,

that in me you may have peace.

In the world you will have tribulation.

But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

Jesus, I consciously choose to give you

my day, my worries, my challenges

and rest in Your Peace

in the midst of life...

even Tribulation.

You have this,

Thank you Jesus

Blessings on your week,
